Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About NZD to INR Chart

What does the NZD to INR chart show?

It tracks how many Indian Rupees one New Zealand Dollar has been worth over time, and the tabs above it let you switch between shorter and longer time ranges. By default, it plots the interbank rate, which is the wholesale benchmark that banks use when they trade currencies with each other. It is a record of how the exchange rate has moved, not a quote for the rate that would apply to your order today.

What does it mean when the chart goes up or down?

A rising line means each New Zealand Dollar is worth more rupees than before, so the rupee has weakened against it. That makes NZD more expensive to buy, although you receive more rupees when you sell it. A falling line means the opposite: the rupee has strengthened, so New Zealand Dollar becomes cheaper to buy and fetches fewer rupees when you sell.

Can I see buying, selling and transfer rates on the chart?

Yes. The chart displays the interbank rate by default, and the menu above it lets you switch to the buying rate, the selling rate or, where BookMyForex offers the service, the transfer rate. The buying and transfer rates sit above the interbank line, while the selling rate sits below it. The distance between these lines reflects what it costs to exchange currency.

What do Open, High, Low and Close mean in the table?

Each row of the table covers one period: Open is the exchange rate at the start of that period, and Close is the rate at its end. High and Low are the highest and lowest rates recorded in between, so a wide gap between them indicates that the rate moved sharply during that period.

How often is the chart updated?

The rates on this page refresh every twice a day while currency markets are open. Most markets close at the weekend, so the rate hardly moves from early Saturday to early Monday, India time. That is why the chart typically shows little or no movement on those two days.

Why do small moves look so big on the chart?

Each view is automatically scaled to fit the range of rates in that period. In a short time range, that span is narrow, so even a small change can look like a steep rise or fall, while a longer range compresses the same change into a much wider span. Check the values on the side of the chart before deciding how significant a movement really is.

Why is this chart different from the one on Google or other sites?

Google and other sites also track the interbank rate, but they use different data providers and update at different times. Some charts also add a margin or show buying rates instead. Small differences between sources are normal. What counts for your order is the rate shown on the order screen before you pay.

Is this the same as the RBI reference rate?

No. The official reference rate, still often called the RBI reference rate, has been set by Financial Benchmarks India (FBIL) since 2018. FBIL fixes it once each working day for the US Dollar and other major currencies. It is used as a benchmark, for example to settle some currency contracts. This chart follows the market rate throughout the day, so the two figures usually differ slightly.

Can this chart tell me where the NZD to INR rate is heading?

No. A chart records where the exchange rate has been, not where it is going, although looking back can reveal how much the rate typically moves in a week or a month. That is useful for planning, but unexpected news, such as an interest rate decision or a major global event, can shift the rate sharply at any time. For the current outlook, see our NZD to INR forecast.

What caused the biggest NZD to INR moves in the last 10 years?

The section above lists the sharpest movements of the past decade, with the month each one happened and what triggered it. Most followed specific events, such as a financial crisis, a rapid change in interest rates or a spike in oil prices. Seeing how quickly those movements unfolded shows how far the rate can shift when a major event hits.

What if my passport was issued in a foreign country? Will I be treated as an Indian resident?

Yes, if you can confirm and provide evidence of residing in India for more than 182 days in the preceding financial year. You will be asked to submit all pages of your passport to validate your immigration stamps and timeline.
