Can I use contactless when I travel?

Your contactless card can be used overseas wherever the contactless symbol and the Visa logo are displayed. Contactless payment, however, requires a lot of technology and lightning-fast communication between the vendor and the bank. There's a good chance the merchant is at fault if your equipped card isn't working abroad. In spite of the fact that they may tell you they use contactless travel, you may have trouble making purchases. It's good news, though, that your account won't be blocked or penalized if your card doesn't work with contactless purchases.

How is contactless different from cards with a visible chip?

Gold or silver chips are visible on the body of the contact smart cards. Similar to a computer, this chip has its own operating system, profile, and card file structure. Due to the fact that these cards need to be inserted into a card reader to make contact with the mechanism, they are referred to as contact cards. A contactless smart card does not have a visible chip, unlike a contact smart card. In contrast, the chip and the chip's antenna are embedded inside the card. Instead of inserting the card, it is waved over an RFID reader. As the contactless card passes through the RFID field, the antenna powers up the chip and relays the chip's information.
